August Astrology - This Is Where You Shine
It feels like since Pluto entered Aquarius back in Nov. 2024, the astrological alignments have been getting more and more intense. Each month I sit down to write these energy updates, summarizing the movements of our neighboring planets, and each month I am hit with bigger waves of energy. I can’t help but think that these intelligent celestial bodies have decided specifically for this time in our history to come around, because they are showing up in ensembles.
It isn’t one planet or alignment coming in and making a ruckus. It isn’t two, or three… It’s like the whole gang came together and collectively agreed, “Let’s shake it up.”
I will try my best to be brief in writing August’s energy update while being detailed enough that you feel supported. Here goes.
Has anyone else felt massive anxiety recently? Racing thoughts? Impending doom? Yeah, I already know I’m not alone. In fact, the racing thoughts have become so loud that I think they want the megaphone first before I go into anything else. The culprit behind this madness? Let’s all welcome Chiron! Our lovely wounded healer friend. We have to remember – friend. Not foe.
Chiron is here to command growth. Chiron shows us where the cracks are and continues to point at them incessantly until we say, “FINE!” and fix them. Chiron doesn’t take shit. Chiron doesn’t have the patience or energy to wait for you to turn this car around. Chiron reminds me of a wise woman. She’s seen some stuff in her day. She knows what people are capable of, and she doesn’t support excuses. She demands respect, honor, and justice. Especially when we’re talking about ourselves.
Chiron is a mirror. She is not focused on everyone else. She’s looking straight at you. She says, “You are responsible for your life. Take responsibility.” But here’s the thing – Even though she’s tough. She’s brave. She’s courageous. She is also soft. She is loving. She is kind. She is compassionate. Yes, she demands a lot, but she’s only doing it because she loves you and she KNOWS you are capable of caring for yourself.
Chiron is going Retrograde in Taurus on August 3rd. If you aren’t familiar with what retrograde means, it is essentially when the planet or celestial body appears to be moving backwards from our perspective here on Earth. When a planet is in retrograde, we can expect a “review” process. A chance for reevaluation. It’s best that we don’t jump on any huge endeavors pertaining to the energy of the planet or celestial body while it’s in retrograde. It doesn’t always end in failure, but when you welcome that energy of “reevaluation” at the beginning of your journey, that’s what you’re looking at until the end.
So what does it mean for Chiron to be retrograde in Taurus? Taurus is the sign that influences safety and stability, financial security, physical comfort, reliability, long-term commitment, and Chiron’s favorite, self-worth. When we’re looking at Chiron in Taurus, Chiron is testing our patience, consistency, and determination, and showing us how we abandon ourselves in these areas. And with Chiron being in retrograde, it’s forcing you to reevaluate the way you show up for yourself, how you manage your money, and where you find stability.
Those anxious thoughts? They are 100% from this alignment. You know how I know? Because anxiety shows up when we feel a “groundlessness” about ourselves. Anxiety happens when our security is threatened, when we feel unstable, or when we are abandoning ourselves. Chiron in Taurus is specifically asking you to focus on these matters.
Where, when, and with whom do you feel most safe? How often do you allow yourself the safety they provide?
Do you rely on money for your sense of security? Do you hoard money? Do you spend frivolously? Do you have a constant leak, where as soon as you get money, it’s gone? Chiron asks, “What is this attached to?” “What new beliefs about money would be more beneficial?”
Lastly, do you put all of your value into how much money you have, the people you “serve,” or by how much you can do? Chiron will break this all down. Hell, Chiron will tear the house down until there’s only the foundation left if that’s what it takes for you to listen and reevaluate these areas. She’s not an overnight visitor. She stays in retrograde for five months.
We are just entering into this alignment, and the world is already blanketed by anxiety. We can’t sustain and carry all of that for five months. We have to make changes. It’s just the truth of the matter. We all know the choices we need to make to better support ourselves. From now until January 6, 2027, it’s time to put our money where our mouth is. The excuses aren’t going to hold up in this energy because Chiron is fully supported by the next alignments I will be talking about.
The biggest support system for the beginning of this transition is Mercury in Leo. Mercury has been stationed retrograde in Cancer (my goodness, I’m glad it’s over), and will be moving into Leo on August 6th. Mercury in Leo sets us up perfectly for self-care. Mercury in Leo is gentle, calm, and peaceful. It’s the best time for writing, storytelling, speaking up, and sharing creative ideas.
When we are going through a storm, these tools (writing, speaking, creativity, etc) are tried-and-true methods of feeling more serene. Even if you just scribble, or bang the pen over and over in the notepad, you always feel much better after connecting thought with movement. This alignment gives you a safe place to be yourself and release the fear of people judging you. After all, you are truly the only person in control of your life and how you feel. We have the choice of what and who we give our power away to, and each time we choose to hold onto our power, we gain a deeper trust with ourselves, which ultimately calms anxious and racing thoughts. If we can fully trust ourselves, there’s no need for those old ways of protection. You can put the heavy sword and shield down and rest for a bit.
But just know, when the sword and shield go down, the warrior inside you still has the natural reflex of hypervigilance, worry, and fear. The warrior was bred to protect. At all costs. The next alignments will give us opportunities to stand up and fight again, but we must learn that not every situation needs a warrior to show up. Sometimes we need to be the shepherd.
Mars entering Cancer on August 11th with a total solar eclipse in Leo the very next day sets a fire in the darkness, but not everyone will see the flame. This will be more of an inner fire. Mars is a planet of action, aggression, passion, and drive. With Mars in Cancer, there are going to be moments where we may be feeling super emotional and more sensitive towards what happens in our lives, especially around home and family.
This is the moment where all that anxiety we’ve been holding needs to release. Like a valve. If it doesn’t, you could be looking at a long few months ahead. It’s best to just let it out. It may be ugly; you may upset some people, but at the end of the day, you’ve been carrying a lot, and sometimes we just need to let things fall where they may.
If we can allow this release to happen, this eclipse will whisk us away into a future that feels like it could be a dream. We are talking BIG TIME new beginnings and significant shifts. It will literally feel like a chapter has been closed, and a new one has begun. And with solar eclipses, the effects can last for up to six months. So this new change won’t come immediately. If it did, you would get burned out and fall right back into the same patterns. It will be a six-month unfolding of your petals. Not too fast, but fast enough where you can step back and say, “Holy crap, my life will never be the same again, and for that, I am grateful.”
Because it’s in Leo, we’re looking at breakthroughs in self-expression, creativity, leadership, purpose, and following your heart. This isn’t “get a different job” type energy; it’s “fall into your purpose” type energy. By the end of these six months, I guarantee you will know beyond a shadow of a doubt exactly what your heart wants. Will you follow your heart, or will you continue to lead with your head?
By the end of the month, Virgo takes the reins. On August 23rd, we will officially be in Virgo season, and just a couple of days later, Mercury will enter Virgo along with the Sun. Virgo is the planner of the zodiac. Virgo reorganizes daily habits, plans for the future, and refines your daily flow to optimize your energy. With Mercury being in Virgo, this is the best time to have that chat you’ve been meaning to have, connect with friends and family, or market and network yourself or your business. It will be a very auspicious time for communication.
Buuuuuuuutttt make it before the 28th, mmk? Deep breath There’s a partial lunar eclipse in Pisces on the 28th.
Let’s just take a minute…………………………… Rubbing my head
We literally JUST had a total solar eclipse, which started some pretty awesome stuff in our life. You have GOT TO BE JOKING when you add a partial lunar eclipse just shy of three weeks later (ah, eclipse season is upon us). So those things you started… There could be some endings already. Not total endings, so some things you did will still follow through (woof), but you may need to adjust some things. Set up systems. Restructure your game plan. Hone in.
… I know. I know.
Annnnd it’s going to be emotional.
Don’t shoot the messenger!
It may be a hard blow, but that’s okay. I love and hate this word: “Surrender.” You can exchange it with whatever you feel fits best. Whatever word you settle on that resembles “surrender” energy, take that with you. Just keep it in your back pocket for a while. Because this will be a call to relinquish control. For good.
Why? Because Jupiter trines Saturn on the 31st. Jupiter is big boy energy that brings in massive growth. The month of August will be a complete shed. There are too many things happening for it not to be. There are still so many alignments I’m not touching on. I’ve chosen these because I think they are the frontrunners, and you should be aware of them. For your own sanity.
This is what I love about astrology. As soon as I’ve determined I’ve officially lost it, I look at the stars and everything suddenly makes sense. It’s not just me. We are collectively experiencing the same thing, but from different perspectives.
To finish this month up, there are grand opportunities in place. Your potential for expansion is explosive. It may take some extra discipline, but the good news is, it doesn’t feel like discipline anymore once it’s a habit. This will be the time of new habits. Ones that support and nurture you. Not keep you stuck in old programs. It may suck, absolutely, but ultimately, what a gift it will be.
On the other side is a brand new you. A you that you’re proud of. A you that trusts you. A you that leads from authenticity and abundance instead of scarcity. That’s something worth celebrating.
