Some feelings only come through in poems. This one is called The Crab — on surrender, and being held by what's bigger than you.
The Crab
I feel a softening
A softening that leaves me open
As the water penetrates my skin
As I drift back and forth
Ebbing and flowing with the sea
Up, then down
I see the light, then darkness
Never knowing where the current will take me
I feel a hardening
A hardening that prepares me for the hits
As my body slams into the ocean floor
I hold my breath as I release control
The mother ocean dictates where I go
I'm at the mercy of her command
Every time I force direction
The current takes me under into the darkness again
And my body left bruised
As I enter into my next grand adventure
I pinch and grab onto anything that's grounded
But the water is much more powerful than I
Swept up again, I know the battle is futile
My chances of survival are slim
But today I make friends with the current
And let it take me in again
Made with love, color, and soulful expression.
