October Astrology - The Harvest

Woowee, what a month September was. The eclipse energy from August paved the way for us to become more aligned with our authenticity, courage, and drive in September. I experienced huge epiphany moments, as if a fog that had been lingering for some time was suddenly cleared. I received information about my next moves and the trajectory I’ll be moving towards through the new year.

All of this is wonderful news, but in October, we’re going to be getting deeper and more balanced in what the future holds for us until the Spring Equinox. As we enter the Fall Equinox, old versions of ourselves will be shedding, and we will be rationing the harvest to last through winter. There could be a “gathering” of ideas that create enough momentum to get you through winter and will catapult you into your blossoming in the Spring.

But for now, let’s focus on the present moment with the understanding that what happens this month will be showing up later.

At the beginning of the month, Venus will be turning retrograde in Scorpio. This is the depth I was talking about. Venus represents love, relationships, intimacy, self-worth, pleasure, etc… Because it’s in Scorpio, the themes become much deeper: trust, vulnerability, attachment, sexuality, power dynamics, emotional honesty, and what exists beneath the surface will begin to rise.

By October 25, Venus retrogrades back into Libra, shifting the emphasis toward partnership, fairness, and relational balance. This creates an interesting progression from deep truth to rational balance. I don’t anticipate this retrograde as being one that knocks us off our axis. Instead, it invites us to evaluate where we are already off-balance in our relationships and love, and guides us back to a point of balance. This is a very auspicious retrograde period, so make the most of it!

On October 10th, we have a New Moon in Libra, which I am very excited about. Libra is all about balance and reciprocity, harmony vs. people-pleasing, beauty and creativity, and how we relate to other people. For those on a “healing journey,” this could provide a much-needed exhale from the shaky alignments over the last few months. Because this is a New Moon, we have the opportunity to set an intention for the rest of the moon cycle for balance in all things. This is personally one of my favorite New Moons of the year.

By the 15th of October, Pluto stations direct in Aquarius. Pluto has been in retrograde since May, so this marks a shift from internal processing toward external transformation. Aquarius represents community, collective systems, technology, social structures, and new ideas. Because Pluto has been in retrograde, we have been turned inward without much outward activity. We’ve been “planning our play” so to speak.

Now that it is stationing direct again, expect to see some outward movement. I won’t get political here, but I’ll say that certain people/circumstances have been kept under secrecy, and I don’t expect to see much of that with this alignment. I think we could see some huge advancements happening towards justice and new ways of handling things.

As for our personal lives, we could see another wave of AI advancement come into the job markets or everyday tasks. There is a lot of fear around AI, understandably so, but it is here. It’s up to us how we are going to use it and if we are going to allow it to run without regulations. Pluto stationing direct in Aquarius offers us an opportunity to catch our stride when it comes to speaking out about the ways in which we want to see AI utilized. Use your voice during this time. It will serve you greatly.

As a reminder that nothing ever stays the same for long, the Sun will be entering Scorpio on the 23rd. Scorpio season begins at essentially the same time that Venus is retrograde in Scorpio and Mercury is about to station retrograde there. So take that balance you have achieved in the early part of the month and put it into play here, because it could make for an interesting end to October, and here is another reason why:

On the same day, October 23, there is a Venus cazimi in Scorpio. A cazimi in astrology is a rare and powerful alignment that occurs when a planet is positioned directly "in the heart of the Sun,” and it’s happening while Venus is in retrograde. Symbolically, this can be viewed as a midpoint or illumination within the Venus retrograde cycle. You could begin to question things like, “What do I actually value?” “What do I want in a relationship?” “What am I no longer willing to compromise?” “Where have I confused attachment with love?” “What does intimacy mean to me now?” These are some big questions that could lead to some enlightening truths.

In closing, we have the Full Moon in Taurus on October 26. Because we will be in Scorpio season, we will be asked, “What needs to transform?” while Taurus asks, “What needs to remain stable?” This carries themes around security, money, resources, and holding on vs. letting go. It feels to me like a much-needed moment of honesty that will prepare us for the trajectory we will be on for the rest of the year. Will you resist, or will you allow?
